Onem® is an interdisciplinary artist from Monterrey, Mexico, whose practice bridges art, technology, mysticism, and the ancestral. His work explores portals between worlds —where memory, spirituality, and the unknown converge— creating visual universes that connect the visible with the invisible.
Deeply rooted in the Mexican imaginary, his visual language merges mythology, pre-Hispanic symbolism, spirituality, fantasy, and science fiction with a distinctive aesthetic that blends modern pop, surrealism, and a stylized, almost caricature-like sensibility. These elements coexist with influences of metaphysical and cosmic imagination, expanding his exploration of transformation, identity, and consciousness, and revealing connections between the earthly and the transcendent.
Onem’s creative process often begins with personal memories and emotional experiences, evolving into sculptural and digital forms that blur the boundaries between the ancestral and the futuristic, the sacred and the technological. His art invites viewers to travel through portals where ancient myths and modern visions coexist —a meditation on humanity’s eternal desire to transcend.
He holds a Master’s (ALM) in Digital Media Art and Instructional Design from Harvard University, where he studied under renowned art professors, including Annette Lemieux, and earned a certificate in Strategic Planning from Harvard GSD. He is also a graduate of the Pictoplasma Academy of Berlin and has pursued studies in design and visual arts in Mexico.
Onem began his career in 2005, interning with Hani Rashid at Asymptote Architecture in New York City. Today, he directs ONEM Studio, where he develops artistic projects and collaborations with global brands such as Viacom, Nickelodeon, Adobe, and Televisa Networks.
His work has been exhibited and published internationally in the United States, Berlin, and Thailand, receiving distinctions such as the Latin American Illustration Award in New York, Best Book in Show at Harvard University, and the Reed Latino Award in Washington D.C.
Beyond his artistic practice, Onem has taught at the University of Monterrey (UDEM) and Arte A.C., sharing his vision of art and storytelling with new generations. A traveler, husband, and father of two, he continues to explore the intersection between the cosmic and the intimate —between the mystery of the universe and the pulse of human emotion.
